When should someone see a nephrologist?
See a nephrologist if blood or urine tests show abnormal kidney function, if you have diabetes or high blood pressure with high creatinine or low eGFR, or if you notice swelling, fatigue or blood in urine. Early specialist care slows kidney damage significantly.
What does a kidney transplant involve?
A transplant replaces a failed kidney with a healthy one from a living donor (usually a relative) or a deceased donor. It involves a careful medical and legal evaluation, the transplant surgery, and lifelong follow-up and medication. Our transplant guide explains the whole pathway step by step.
Is kidney treatment covered by insurance or Ayushman Bharat?
